In One Month
We will be packing up and moving back to Michigan. I will enroll in a couple summer classes at the community college. I will be working one day a week for the family I used to work for, when K goes back from maternity leave. I will be watching for a job opening at WIC. I will be clearing up my credit and buying a good used car. I will take a few classes in the fall semester. Wallace will get lots of grandparent time.

In One Year
We will be packing up the car (is 34 hours of driving) and moving to Portland, OR. I will be attending the lactation counselor program at Birthingway for two years. Wallace will either go to preschool or we will find some families through the school who want to swap babysitting.

In Three Years
I will be finishing up the lactation program, graduating with an associates degree, and preparing for the IBCLE. I will have an awesome job lined up. Wallace will be five. I will be planning when I get to have another baby.

After another week, I didn’t hear back about the job here in Chicago. I posted an ad on Craigslist for my apartment sublease and am planning our move. I am working on getting rid of things while starting packing. I need more tape. I also need to let my current job know, but the friend who got me the job and used to be their nanny said they are trying to rent their place and move.

I talked to the woman in charge of the lactation program at Birthingway and have a better idea of what the two years will be like. I can take a few classes to get out of the way but there are no prerequisites. All the requirements for the IBCLE are worked into the program but some classes can be done beforehand to save money. I am really excited that the clinical hours start at the beginning with the observation part of it. They have an amazing community breastfeeding clinic and that is where we do our training, 1-2 days a week. The core classes are all on one day a week, for that year it will be Tuesdays, and then any extra classes I might need will be at different times and combined with the midwifery students. For example, anatomy and physiology will be specific to pregnancy, birth, and lactation. Super excited! I forgot to ask her when I need to apply for it and am also waiting for a phone call from the financial aid person next week.

There are lots of things I still have to figure out but I feel like a solid plan is taking shape!
