MicroBlog Monday: Memory and Music

I don’t mean to brag, but my kid is smart. He has a great memory and picks things up really fast. It has been amazing witnessing him absorb so much and the difference over time in what he knows and can do.

Lately he is all about songs. He has learned Frere Jacque, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and Soft Kitty in just the past couple weeks with only a little repetition. He also sings the ABCs (not perfectly and he only knows the letter W), You Are My Sunshine, Twinkle Twinkle, and a few songs I have made up for him. He likes to make up his own songs and mix things together, which is pretty funny. He sometimes sings himself to sleep and in the car.

Another great thing is his memory for where things are. I can actually ask my two year old where he or I put something and he tells me! Just in packing for our trip he immediately knew where three lost items were.

Two year olds are fun!

  1. Their memory is amazing!!! it’s like their head isn’t filled with useless information and stress ;-). Way to go Wallace!

They are so much fun! Evelyn amazes me on a daily basis with the things she remembers.

Two year olds are amazing! My son has been asking for songs to be sung to him lately, BUT he tells what the song can or can’t be about and he is very specific (a dolphin that hits people… and then the next song is a dolphin that doesn’t hit people. Or curtains that….etc.) They’re so much fun, especially when not having a tantrum. LOL

  4. Love the requests. Sometimes I get one woe requests for songs and either remember one that fits or make one up. He also likes to sing happy birthday to everyone we know.

2 year olds are definitely a fun if we leave apart their tantrum troubles. And they add so much music to our lives with their rhymes and songs sung in their toddler languages. I have lots of videos of my son from those days 🙂

  6. Wallace had a few tantrums when he was younger but they don’t really happen with how I parent. He communicates so well and understands so much.

  7. Mel says:

It is a fun age. And it only gets better and better.

  8. Jen says:

Age 2-3 is an incredible time. How handy that he can remember lost things – we could do with more of that in our house!
