MicroBlog Monday: New Things

I will be collaborating with someone on a new blog about people’s journeys through AIP and healing autoimmune disease. My blog partner wants to make sure we do not lose content or control and thinks purchasing a URL and having it hosted will be best. So, for someone who only knows free Blogspot and WordPress, what’s the best way to go about this? Can we use WordPress as a platform or are there better options that are still accessible for the non tech-savvy? Any advice and resources welcome!

You can use WordPress to buy the URL and host – very simple and easy! It was $129/Canadian for a year for me (I just purchased one and will share more details closer to launch) and worth it because I can have ads on the site to generate revenue.

I wrote a post about setting up a self-hosted blog a while back: http://www.stirrup-queens.com/2012/05/how-to-set-up-a-self-hosted-blog-and-move-content-from-blogger-wordpress-or-other-sites/. Don’t know if it will help, but it’s very easy to move from free WordPress to self-hosted WordPress.
